Fewer monitors

Six months into her new job, the boss of BBC Monitoring, Sara Beck, has clearly failed in her hunt for £2.5m of new income (which was her original mission) and now has to make cuts of £4m by 2017.  98 posts are to close, and there's expected to be changes to the remaining 222 job descriptions.

If that wasn't enough uncertainty, the bulk of staff based at Caversham have been told to expect a move to an unnamed building in central London, forty miles away - or, an hour and a half minimum additional commute.

So a trawl for redundancy volunteers is underway - and it's possible with a bit of resettlement that the requirement might come down to 60 wanting to go.
