Very big apple

Two cheers to winners at the New York Festival of The World's Best Radio Programs 2016.

Entries were accepted in more than 130 categories. Counting Bronze, Silver, Gold, Grand and United Nations Department of Public Information prizes, the BBC's name was on more than 50 awards, both in-house and indie, and thus ended up as Broadcaster of the Year. Add cost of entries together with those stumping up to attend, plus charges for 'personalised' awards, it's quite a lay-out.
