Superstructure

A week after the noisy Cenotaph stunt, the BBC has briefed that Chris Evans now has three bosses minding the delivery of Top Gear Mark II.

Clare Pizey, Head of Factual Entertainment, and just recovering from the production of this year's Sport Relief, becomes "editorial lead".  She has teenage kids, and previous experience with Carol Vorderman and Anneka Rice, so that might help. Producer and director Martin Dance. a colleague from previous Sport Reliefs, is billed as "editor of the studio part of the series". This suggests there's still some tension as to how that might work; Evans likes 'live', the BBC wants quality for its investment, and no surprises. Alex Renton, former Top Gear trusty, is now described as "showrunner". Evans is now described as presenter and 'creative lead'.
