Shake your moneymaker

I wonder what the mood is on the newsroom floor of the New York Times.

Six years ago Mark Thompson, then Director General of the BBC, was being interviewed by employee and presenter Stephen Sackur at a house event, and was told “There are huge numbers of people in the organisation who think your salary is plain wrong and corrosive.” It stood at £834,000.

Yesterday, Mark Thompson's package of salary, shares and other payments as CEO of the NYT for 2015 was revealed as $8.7m - around £6.1m. That's up from $4.5m for 2014.
