Seachd

One benificiary from the closure of BBC3 as a broadcast channel at the end of this month is BBC Alba, which nudges up on most Electronic Programme Guides. In Scotland, it moves from Freeview 8 to Freeview 7; for fans of Gaelic further afield, it moves from Sky 143 to Sky 142, and from Freesat 110 to 109.

If you haven't tried it, here's an assessment from Angus-Peter Campbell "If you tuned in from Mars you could well believe that here we all are, happy on our little island crofts, endlessly singing at Celtic Connections, whistling at sheep-dog trials, and playing Pro 12 rugby. It’s like the Gaelic version of the news where you are not."

Meanwhile, Alba fans will be delighted to know that, after that nasty George Osborne decided not to renew the £1m of additional funding spookily doled out to the channel before the referendum, the Scottish Government has found a spare £1m, and all is well again.
