Nerve

You've got to admire the chutzpah of James Harding, BBC Director of News. As his loin-clothed workers sit, sweat, wait and worry, shackled to news portals in the Temple of Doom and subsidiary Shrines around the UK, expecting news of summary executions, he announces the creation of a new management job.

He has brought forth a vacancy for Controller BBC News Mobile and Online, and those of good character and well accustomed to digital detail are to present their credentials to HR Beadle, Dale Haddon. Mobile apparently includes Newstream, Online, live streaming, social media and much-spent-on-but-little understood myBBC

Once Jimmy and Dale have selected this new key player, the current management minder of things 24/7 and Digital, Jon Zilkha, will be rebranded to Controller, BBC News Channels. Staff will be interested to know if his salary changes much with these reduced responsibilities - and what wedge the new job is on.
