Doors closed

The news that the BBC plans to end guided tours of Broadcasting House apparently follows "a review", with security the issue. Spookily, it coincides with the end of the financial year, and 40 guides and other staff - some part-time - will be out of work.

It was clear from a dispute in 2013 that the operation had difficulties in balancing the books. Maybe someone has now decided it's more trouble than it's worth for a marginal return. If so, that's a shame, but in step with current increasingly less transparent BBC style.
