American appetite

If BBC America is stuttering under the guidance of new coach AMC Networks, then the AMC channel is spluttering on the British tv market so far.

Launched exclusively to BT customers in September, the most recent weekly BARB figures show its top show to be an episode from 2008 of US drama series Weeds, the continuing story of a California single mother living on a gated community making ends meet by selling marijuana, with 5,000 viewers. Only three programmes over the week topped 1,000 in the rankings. Total weekly reach is less than 70,000.
