Whisky in the jar

If she can do it for Jameson and Chicago Town Pizza, then Kathryn "Kat" Greenwood can surely improve the image of BBC Director of News, James Harding - at least in the eyes of his staff.

Kat has emerged as the BBC's Head of Internal Communications & Engagement, after eight years with Amey - where, spookily, BBC HR Director Valerie Hughes D'Aeth was based for five and a bit years before joining Auntie in 2014.

She has a BSc in Management (specialising in Marketing) from UMIST, and her first employers were Madhouse Associates, which seems prescient. Marketing of whisky and fast food came with TBWA. At Amey, she's been "Riding the Re-Brand Wave".

In early sparring, Kat is one up, having wrested control of the appointments board which will select a minder an internal communications partner for James. Here's to a 2016 full of "involvement and 2-way conversations" from the Director of News.
