He's a slow burner, that Tony Gallagher. Today's Sun editorial comes seven days after the BBC Trust said CBBC could run to 9pm.

EXTENDING the hours of a BBC kids ­channel may seem a minor detail. In fact it is a classic example of the “mission creep” that threatens the Beeb’s existence as a state-funded broadcaster. 

There is no case for keeping CBBC on till 9pm. It is simply another attempt to use the huge bung from licence-payers to seize audience from commercial TV.

Sky is a partner with Viacom in Nickelodeon, with channels Nickelodeon, Nickelodeon HD, Nickelodeon+1, Nicktoons, Nick Jnr, Nick Jnr 2, Nick Jnr +1 currently all running twenty-four hours a day on the Sky programme guide.
