Fry

As we drift towards the end of another year, time to reflect on the fortunes of our smaller tv stations and their recent figures.

London Live, the cutting-edge breakthrough Lebedev enterprise, is reaching its peak audiences with re-runs of Desmond's, the Channel 4 comedy which first ran from 1989 to 1994. 67,000 is the highest I can find.

Al Jazeera English's best shot is an edition of Newshour, which attracted 36,000. RT (Russia Today) also peaked at 36,000 in December. Forces TV (apparently totally funded by advertising) hit 20,000 with a show about HMS Queen Elizabeth, the aircraft carrier under construction in Rosyth.

STV City, serving Edinburgh and Glasgow, got its biggest return in December (26,000) for old episodes of Taggart, which ran on ITV for 28 years.

Fox News and Euronews didn't register in December,  NDTV 24x7 (New Delhi TV) picked up 20,000 for one show, The Buck Stops Here.

France 24, Bloomberg, CNN and CNBC don't play with BARB.
