Well said

Some clear thinking from former BBC correspondent Humphrey Hawkesley: 

"If the BBC wants the public to pay willingly for its services, it needs a modern system built on clarity, convenience and persuasion. A future licence fee should be attached to individuals and their devices, not bricks and mortar."

  1. I've been saying for the last 30 years (since the early days of "shall we call it a subscription or a licence?") that if you've paid it you should be given a PIN. This would open up ALL areas of iPlayer to you. No PIN and you only get very limited Beeb access, not quite a pay wall, but at least it's better than just answering the unverifiable "do you have a licence?" question at present, which is farcical.
