MS and Sky

In the shifting and melting ice-floes of traditional news media, a new alliance has emerged. MSNBC is to partner with Sky News in the USA.

The new arrangement is a consequence of Comcast's plans to demerger NBC Universal. Comcast will retain the NBC broadcast network, Peacock streaming service, Universal Studios, theme parks, and Telemundo. A new company, Versant, will take USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, E!, Golf Channel, and Syfy, along with digital platforms like Fandango and SportsEngine.

So MSNBC will be rebranded MS Now from November, and will turn to Sky for news services as it loses access to NBC News.  Emerging as the MSNow Director of Newsgathering is Ian Sherwood, with a pedigree stretching back through NBC, Sky, BBC, ITV to the Kent News in 1997.

Comcast's pledge to support Sky News ends in 2029.
