Top tier

I'm not sure how many brand managers Tim Davie has created since his permanent move to BBC DG; presumably they all had a meeting sometime in October and said AMC Networks could take full ownership of the cable channel BBC America, for £32.5m, and this would continue to accrue credit, if not cash, to the reputation of the BBC across the United States.

AMC cut a deal to buy the final 50% of the channel from BBC Studios on November 1st. It's owned the other 50% since 2014 (when 50% of BBC America was priced at £125m).

Here's a piece of nonsense from AMC Networks' Chief Financial Officer Patrick O'Connell: “Of course, we still maintain a close commercial relationship with BBC Studios to ensure the brand and programming remain top tier."

From 3.30pm to midnight today, AMC is running The Terminator and Terminator 2 back to back. Tomorrow, from 9.30am, it's back to back The Godfather and The Godfather II.
