Dynamic Davie

The BBC is preparing to reveal new ways of measuring its worth, with its latest wizard wheeze, "Audience Value". Director General Tim Davie will explain more this afternoon, via an online grilling by Baroness (Nicky) Morgan, hosted by Reform, a think tank seeking improve public services.

We're promised information about this new concept (I suspect driven by the BBC's Policy and Strategy) and how the BBC will become 'a smarter saver, seller and spender' (which has the ring of Procter & Gamble alumni).

Over the summer, a team from the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, based at University College London, have been toiling with Clare Sumner (Policy), Natalie Timan and Tom Carr (Chief and Senior Economist). Their paper introduces "dynamic public value", and suggests a three-way measurement of how Auntie helps Individuals, Society, and Industry, further cross cut by direct measurement, dynamic-added value analysis, and market-shaping effects. With me so far ?  Not sure it's going to make bulletins.
