Not sure if this BBC pay revelation will set the Fleet Street dovecotes fluttering. An FoI answer reveals that on "worker" grades, from 2-10, the average BBC salary in 2012/3 was £36,936, and the median salary £34,902.
What may interest BBC readers more is that just over 12% of the 17,000 odd staff on these grades receive more than the published roof of the relevant pay scale. The explanation ? "These individuals are long serving members of staff or those that who possess a skillset that
commands a higher market premium."
