Bitty

Odds and ends that don't quite make a proper post.

  • Twitterer and Europe Editor of Time Magazine Catherine Mayer stumbled upon Lord Leveson and Robert Jay QC at Sheekey's Restaurant on Friday lunchtime, where Brian and the team were celebrating his 63rd birthday. Our Catherine, self-styled Mayer of London, confessed to Brian about the breach of privacy, but now can at least say she has given evidence to Leveson.  In a celebrity-packed weekend, she also found herself queuing in Selfridges' kitchen shop behind George Osborne. George was buying a knife-sharpener. Gove or Cable ?
  • The sounds of middle managers wailing can be heard from parts of Broadcasting House, where the impending invasion of executives from BBC Vision means a re-distribution of the (very few) car parking passes that remain since the re-development.
  • Is the economic miracle that is Salford Quays having a blip ? Carphone Warehouse, an economic barometer of phone and gadget spending, has closed down its branch in the Lowry Outlet Mall.
