Rare blend

Having announced the imminent departure of HR Director Irene Asare in early July, BBC News has finally launched a recruitment process to find a successor.

And they've handed the task to Olivia Stone, of specialist HR headhunters Tucker Stone. Olivia (Gresham's and MA English, Magdalene College, Cambridge) is the MD and founder, and "has spent 18 years recruiting within the People space".

For those of you who thought managing HR policies in News was pretty grim stuff, with hand-to-hand combat in extended grievance procedures, think on; they're after thought leadership...

"The HR Director, News & Current Affairs requires a rare blend of strategic acumen and hands-on delivery. It spans HR business partnering, organisational development, talent, capability and skills building, and thought leadership. The successful candidate will also need to be an empathetic and strong people manager and a dynamic leader — able to influence, challenge, and coach senior leaders while creating an environment where people can thrive at all levels."

  1. No. This is the fluff of every modern job ad. It's grim stuff with hand-to-hand combat in extended grievance procedures.
