Hugely excited to announce the brilliant Eddie Mair is joining @LBC. He’s an exceptional broadcaster and I’m absolutely delighted he’ll be on our great team from September. #EddieMairOnLBC @global pic.twitter.com/hKtFT3H9eQ— James Rea (@JamesRea) July 2, 2018
In an addendum to the LBC announcement, Eddie managed three whole sentences with out being Eddie-like. “LBC has established itself as a ground-breaking broadcaster. Innovative, informed and fun with appointment-to-listen shows and a reputation for setting the agenda. Its growth has been driven by bosses and staff who are passionate about radio, which is why I am eager to get started."
Rumours that Mr Mair, from Scotland, might be seeking to double his BBC salary, might cause some disruption in the LBC dressing room. Top dollar currently goes to Nick Ferrari, said to be on £400k. Many years ago, LBC in a previous incarnation chased John Humphrys, offering £300k.
The PM programme reaches over 4m listeners a week; LBC, as a UK network, currently reaches 2.2m.
