All change

An under-reported wrinkle in the Eddie Mair Story is that the PM programme editor, Roger Sawyer, is being replaced. Internal applications close next week, seeking someone "to take editorial and managerial responsibility for PM, iPM and Broadcasting House on Radio 4, enhancing the existing reputation of those programmes as homes of journalistic creativity, wit and innovation." It's probably not too late to add a list of new presenters to previously-submitted forms - or to pull out if the job looks to be not so much fun without Eddie.

It's not clear where Roger (Charterhouse & Oxford) has gone; he made the news in a nice way in 2016 with a letter to an eight-year-old listeners who wanted to cover the bongs of Big Ben.

Meanwhile Eddie's out-of-office email reply says he is away making a documentary for Russia Today about a park in Botswana.
