Greenlight for Studios

BBC members of BECTU have voted overwhelmingly to accept a package of measures under which 1700 staff will transfer to the new, commercial, subsidiary, BBC Studios on April 1.

The vote (no formal numbers given) went 86% in favour, 14% against. The negotiations have taken a year, and the union seems to have secure a reasonable list of protections...

BBC Studios Ltd staff will continue to be included in the annual BBC pay round;
Existing BBC terms and conditions will remain in force in the new company;
BBC Studios Ltd staff currently in a BBC pension scheme will remain in their respective scheme including those with defined benefit arrangements;
Redundancy terms will also be protected, subject to the expectation that the Government's imposition of a maximum payment of £95K for the public sector will also be imposed on the BBC;
For those BBC staff still at risk of redundancy there is an agreement that none will be make compulsorily redundant before October 2017.
