MacBook

Those daredevils at BBC Scotland are courting silly season controversy by asking people to vote for Scotland's favourite book.

It must come from a list of thirty, selected by Scottish academics, by authors "born or based in Scotland". Thus they could have included, but haven't, works by Compton Mackenzie, Alexander McCall Smith and William Boyd. They seem also to have spurned the novels of James Naughtie, Kirsty Wark and Andrew Marr...

You can only vote if you create a BBC ID - it's another myBBC ploy.
