Rich tea

It's a rickety roller-coaster ride for pay deals at the BBC these days. 2% in 2012, 1% in 2013, 1% in 2014, 2.5% in 2015, and now 1% on the table for 2016.

The unions managed to get Mrs Hughes D'Aeth to make the minimum rise £400, so, with median salary at the BBC now £43,000, quite a few will get a smidge more than 1%. The deal is conditional on the unions being neutral in their ballot recommendations, and agreeing to a year-long timetable of negotiations on dem good ole terms and conditions, complete with biscuits.

Hmm. In July 2013, the BBC said 'unpredictability' and 'flexibility' allowances would be 'merged' into salaries from January 2014.  Side bet offer - Lord Hall to exit as DG before Valerie sorts this one...
