A diary item on February 3 suggested that Alan Yentob had misled Sir Terry Wogan by persuading him to continue with his BBC1 chat show without telling him that it would be replaced within a year by the El Dorado soap opera.
Mr Yentob has since asked us to make clear that he was controller of BBC2 at the time and was not involved in either decision.
