The deal to salve the bruised face and feelings of Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon delivers the litigant a six figure sum, probably just over £100k, plus the new job title Development Executive, achieved without any sign of a competitive board. We are told Jeremy Clarkson contributed to the cash pot, but not how much. Presumably enough to stop Oisin seeking further redress, which would have been open to him.

It's more or less certain the BBC also had to pick up Mr Tymon's legal fees incurred with Slater & Gordon, to avoid a full employment tribunal hearing they could never win. And Mr Tymon's been on full pay since the Night of the Split Lip without being enormously productive.

  1. It'd be interesting to know the Beeb's total legal bill for this - or maybe that would be too depressing bearing in mind what they've spent in the past...
