Fleckerl hell

The idea of a "Fixed" Strictly is daft, but awfully good for business. Of course the judges watch rehearsals; of course, the producers want to start and end each show with great routines; of course, couples hoping to reach the final eventually have to do something dull, like the Viennese Waltz.

The idea that each couple "improves" forces the judges to up scores each week, and, if that happens too early in the run, you can see an anxiety about too many '10's. The transparency that's missing is any idea of the scale of the public vote.

I hope no-one is taking this too seriously, though I suspect someone in the production team is grumpy with Jamelia, having posted online a wide take of the first "standing ovation" for Peter Andre, who got the judges' vote ahead of the Loose Woman in last week's dance-off.
