I think I can 'give you the sense' that the BBC TV bulletins team will be pleased with figures of 6.71m and 4.17m for the 6pm and 10pm specials last night. But equally, ITV will note that they got 4.35m at 9.45pm. And the BBC regional bulletins, at 6.40pm, scored a mighty 8.43m.
The half-hour Newsnight special at 8pm doubled the usual weeknight audience - 1.36m - 6%.
