When the Great Accountant finally pulls together the total, real, cost of the BBC's failed Digital Media Initiative, he can now add £415k - the charges the BBC paid to external lawyers to defend themselves, unsuccessfully, against an unfair dismissal claim from former Chief Technology Officer, John Linwood.

And the rest, I hear some of you cry....

    "The BBC admitted that its legal fees and VAT in relation to the case totalled £498,000. That sum did not include damages paid to Linwood, which were reported to be nearly £80,000"
