Fleckerl

The wisdom of Comedy Central selecting 31-year-old South African comedian Trevor Noah to replace Jon Stewart as anchor of The Daily Show has been called into question by those who've trawled through his Twitter account and found jokes that are, a-hem, somewhat off colour.

Trevor's mother is a black South African, and his father a white Swiss-German, which made their union illegal under apartheid; he grew up with a violent black stepfather, and the relationship with his mother doesn't seem great now. His journey into the new South African establishment started in 2002 with a role in SABC soap opera Isidingo (still on air) at the age of 18, and thence to hosting varios radio shows for the state broadcaster.

In 2008 he came second in the SABC version of Strictly Come Dancing, with his professional partner Hayley Hammond. There are more questionable jokes in this interview given at the time to gay website Mamba Online.
